Child Support Officer Jobs in Wisconsin

A Child Support Officer plays a crucial role in the social service industry by ensuring the enforcement of child support orders. They are responsible for locating parents, establishing paternity, and setting up payment processes for child support. They also investigate and handle cases of non-payment, working with other social service agencies, and the court system to ensure children receive the financial support they are legally entitled to. Child Support Officers are expected to keep accurate records, maintain case files, and conduct regular reviews of support orders to ensure they are still appropriate.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, good judgement and decision-making abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of family law, particularly pertaining to child support, is crucial. A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is typically required. Some roles may require certification such as Certified Child Support Professional (CCSP) from the National Child Support Enforcement Association. Prior to becoming a Child Support Officer, individuals may have roles such as a Case Worker, Child Advocate, or Family Service Worker to gain experience in the field.
