Department: Homeownership and Neighborhood Programs

Reports to: Homeownership Program Manager

Time Commitment: Full time, non-exempt

Level: E

You'll be responsible for:

Homebuyer Applications (60%)
  • Acting as first point of contact for all Homeownership Program applicants.
  • Supporting the Homeownership Program Manager in the homeowner application and selection process, including application processing, assisting with all workshops and meetings, and follow-up communication on applications.
  • Supporting applicants through the homebuyer application process and refer them to relevant partners or resources as needed.
  • Assisting Homeownership Program Manager with all follow-up communication on homeowner applications.
  • Creating and sustaining strong working partnerships with other members of the team and contributing to Habitat's culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Identifying clients who may need an IDA and referring to the senior program coordinator & IDA specialist

Program Outreach (40%)
  • Developing and implementing an annual outreach plan for the homeownership program.
  • Creating and updating outreach materials for homeownership, home repair and post-purchase education programs in collaboration with the communications department.
  • Provide community outreach support to the program manager, including attending community outreach and tabling events.
  • Hosting monthly Zoom information meetings.
  • Working collaboratively with the community, local agencies, and organizations
  • Working with the communications team on any needed program updates for the website, social media, or additional organization-wide collateral.
  • Contribute to our culture and embody our organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.


To be successful in this role, you'll have experience**:
  • Conducting outreach with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, ideally within a housing or social service setting.
  • Being passionate about expanding access to affordable homeownership and committed to supporting those most impacted by the housing crisis.
  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, applying an equity lens to your communication and program design.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively-both in writing and in person-with a wide range of audiences.
  • Managing your time and projects well, balancing multiple priorities with attention to detail and organization
  • Thriving in both collaborative team environments and when working independently.
  • Being highly proficient with Microsoft Office and databases, and eager to learn new technology as the role evolves.
  • Adapting well to a fast-paced, open, and mission-driven office environment.
  • Working some evenings and weekends as needed.

**Any combination of formal education, paid work experience, unpaid/volunteer experience, and life experience will be considered.

To be considered above and beyond the average candidate in this role, you'll also have:
  • Any qualifying combination of education, certification, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Verbal fluency in Vietnamese, Burmese, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, or Amharic.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRMs (Customer Relationship Management).
  • Knowledge of social services and community resources in the Portland area.

Your work environment and activities:
  • Your workday will be located in a human-paced, team-oriented, business-casual style office setting.
  • Depending on the position's responsibilities, you may be eligible for remote/hybrid work based on performance and access to essential work-related resources.
  • While in the office, you will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • An office-based role means that your day will be mostly sedentary, with some time spent moving files, opening filing cabinets, bending, and/or standing on a stool as necessary.
  • Occasionally, you will travel between other Habitat locations or temporary worksites.
Your Work Schedule:
  • 40-hour work week with a variable schedule that can include evenings and weekends depending on appointments and events
Your Compensation:
We aim to offer competitive pay and benefits and are committed to equity and transparency in compensation. Basing compensation on a candidate's willingness and/or ability to negotiate leads to inequities and bias in how employees are compensated, particularly for historically oppressed groups.
We determine the best possible compensation offer based on base qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and the candidate's competencies for the role demonstrated during the hiring process. Fluency in languages listed under the above and beyond section of this job description will be considered in compensation decisions. Successful candidates are typically hired within the first half of the Pay Range and receive scheduled incremental increases. When starting in this position, your compensation will generally be between $24.04 to $29.45 an hour not exceed the range midpoint. The full range for this position is $24.04 to $34.85 an hour.
