This professional is skilled in recognizing symptoms of severe stress or mental illness, and is trained to intervene effectively to alleviate immediate suffering and prevent future harm. They work in a variety of settings such as mental health clinics, hospitals, police departments, and social service agencies. Important skills for a Crisis Therapist include excellent communication, empathy, resilience, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. They should be able to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
