Brief Job Overview/Summary
Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services, and working out of the Office of Counseling Services, the part-time counselor will provide emotional and academic support to our students. The part-time counselor will promote inclusive student success within the diverse college experience through their commitment to campus outreach, retention and community development. Responsibilities will include: assessment, short-term counseling, (including co-occurring counseling), conflict resolution, crisis counseling, and group counseling. The part-time counselor will also provide workshops to, and training activities with, various student constituents, cooperative activities and programs with other Student Life staff, off campus referral and offer emergency support.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide confidential, short term, student centered, culturally responsive and solution focused individual and group counseling to students who may be experiencing personal difficulties that interfere with their university adjustment and success.
Conduct walk in, triage and crisis services
Maintain confidential records of highly sensitive information due to HIPAA and FERPA laws
Maintain the timely completion of clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and departmental requirements for documentation and storage of confidential files
Other clinical, outreach and psychoeducational duties
Support the regular evaluation of services to maintain up to date understanding of counseling needs
Required Qualifications:
A master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or social work
Candidate must be licensed (LPC or LCSW) in New Jersey
Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written and oral
Effective organizational and administrative skills
Timeliness and attention to detail in work functions
Preferred Qualifications:
College counseling experience
Bilingual
Active CADC OR LCADC Licensure
