Qualifications: Must possess or qualify for an Ohio Department of Education License as a School Counselor.
Career and Technical Education experience preferred.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates and participates in activities that promote the availability of counseling services such as individual student/parent sessions, orientations, informal classroom visits, faculty/staff meetings, etc.
- Maintains a current reference bank of available community resources for referral purposes.
- Serves as a 504 Case Manager.
- Facilitates pertinent activities to promote and improve the students' personal and professional development through individual student counseling sessions, parental contacts/meetings and mentoring.
- Assists students with academic challenges - study skills, tutoring and special needs mentors.
- Serves as an advocate for the needs of the student.
- Provides students with information regarding post-high school training.
- Conferences with parents, students and instructors as needed to assist students optimize their educational experience.
- Develops and executes short and long-range objectives to ensure students' success.
- Assists in resolving students' concerns to ensure resolution toward corrective action.
- Addresses student grievances as applicable.
- Advises students who have credit deficiency, academic problems or attendance problems to ensure resolution toward corrective action.
- Monitors attendance and academic progress of students and provides written or verbal communication to disseminate information concerning the students' academic status and provide follow up as necessary.
- Serves as a key resource in the development of academic advisement by participating in staff meetings and curriculum planning activities.
- Assists with the placement of students based on individual student needs.
- Assists with student re-entry efforts to increase enrollment and retention.
- Performs research and responds to students' concerns regarding financial matters.
- Mentors Counselor Interns as well as new staff members as applicable.
- Provides regularly scheduled supervision of students in critical areas of the building.
- Attends and contributes ideas during weekly briefings with the administrative team.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
- Must satisfy all job-related attendance requirements.
- A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Availability of Position: August 2025
Salary Range: Minimum $47,939.55
Placement on the salary schedule is commensurate with work experience in the field - 185-day contract. (Extended days as needed)
