Prevention Initiative Family Advocate BASE WAGE $22.16-$24.37 per hour based on experience and education level. JOB TYPE Full-Time DESCRIPTION The Prevention Initiative program, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities areas leading provider of early childhood care and education. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for. The role of the Prevention Initiative Family Advocate assists in the administration of the Prevention Initiative program and services. The position supports and engages parents and caregivers through personal visits, group connections, child screenings, and resource networking. The Prevention Initiative Program is an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) grant funded program. You will:
  • Create, plan, and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate monthly parent education activities for children birth to three and their families.
  • Encourage and support parent participation and interactions with their child during parent education activities.
  • Complete two home visits each year with families on caseload. The first visit at the time of enrollment or within the childs first month. The second visit within 6 months after the first visit.
  • Establish rapport and maintain communication with families by reaching out to each family on a monthly basis. Provide referrals for family needs and follow-up with families to ensure their needs have been met monthly.
  • Work with the Program Director, the contracted Home Child Care Network (HCCN) partners, and center Family Service Providers (FSP) to ensure vacancies are filled in accordance with the program requirements.

Education and Experience Required: At least one year of experience working with infants and toddlers. Associates Degree with concentration in the field of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Social Work or related field Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Services, Elementary Education, Social Work, Psychology, or other related field of study. Active Illinois State Board of Education Professional Advocate License (PEL) with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. Three-plus years of experience with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting.
