Job Title: Employment Counselor
Location: MassHire North Central Career Center (Leominster, MA)
Employment Type: Full-time, Onsite
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
Overview:
The Employment Counselor provides career and employment services to help job seekers achieve their employment goals and maintain eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits. The role includes assessments, eligibility reviews (RESEA), career counseling, workshop delivery, employer coordination, and accurate documentation in MOSES.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate orientation sessions on Career Center services and Unemployment Insurance requirements (RESEA).
- Conduct assessments and eligibility reviews: resume review, job search activity, labor market research, work/education history, barriers, and UI questionnaires.
- Provide job search guidance, resume review, interview preparation, and strategies to overcome employment barriers.
- Develop individualized career action plans and recommend education/training or next-step services.
- Refer customers to appropriate programs and services based on needs.
- Conduct RESEA reviews, including one-on-one plans and job search evaluations.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Massachusetts One-Stop Employment System (MOSES) for compliance.
- Explain eligibility, procedures, and benefits to customers clearly.
- Collaborate with Career Center and Business Services teams to match candidates to employer needs.
- Participate in team meetings, planning, and professional development; cross-train as needed.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and local policies.
- Perform other duties or assignments as funding and programs require.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years? experience in customer service, human services, workforce development, or related field.
- Strong commitment to supporting residents of the North Central region toward employment and financial stability.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and willingness to maintain accurate records in MOSES.
- Capacity to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals facing employment barriers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience in employment & training, workforce development, or human resources.
