The Prince George's County Department of Health is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Lead Clinical Case Manager,(Counselor III)grade A24 position, in the Behavioral Health Division.

About the Position

This is full performance professional lead and/or work, providing services and assistance to reentering populations who require assessment and evaluation for treatment and other rehabilitative services in the community. Work is performed under a higher-level other designated position. Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy, timeliness, and quantity of production. Referrals for screenings/assessments that primarily come through the Department of Corrections, the Community Release Center, and Reentry Court. Referrals are made to the Health Department Clinics, contracted providers, and other community providers.

The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad. This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities.

Examples of Work

  • Reviews, and evaluates the casework of the staff members.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings to discuss general policies, rules and regulations, and specific staff and client problems.
  • Carries a caseload of individual, family, and group counseling sessions commensurate with supervisory duties.
  • Makes recommendations regarding types of education and treatment to be offered based on community needs and agency resources.
  • Conducts outreach and referral activities.
  • Reviews client folders periodically to monitor client progress and to ensure the proper documentation of client treatment plans and progress notes.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations issued by the County, State, or program director.
  • Participates in the selection and training of new employees and provides staff development.
  • May be required to use automated equipment in conjunction with assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, or Psychology Doctoral Level in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.
  • Achieve a passing score on the National Counselors Examination of the National Board for Certified Counselors and the State Law Test; and

A candidate placed in this classification must be licensed as a Graduate Professional Counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. In accordance withHealth Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.01.09,(Maryland Department of Health General Licensure Information).

Must possess one of the following licenses/certifications:

  • LCPC: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
  • LGPC: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
  • LCADC: Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor
  • LGADC: Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor
  • LCSW-C: Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical
  • LCSW: Licensed Certified Social Worker
  • LMSW: Licensed Masters Social Worker

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working with justice-involved individuals or in a related setting
  • Certification in delivering the Level of Services/Case Management Inventory (LS/CMI)
  • Experience using an electronic database.
  • Experience working with community-based agencies/organizations to access resources/services for returning citizens.
  • Experience in program management
