Now Hiring: Activity Director
Responsibilities of Activity Director:
- Support the mission, vision, and culture of the organization through positive communication and leadership.
- Contribute to Community relationships by demonstrating cooperation and professional conduct with residents, families, fellow associates, and other vendors or persons.
- Contribute to team effort by being flexible in work assignments, taking initiative, and by understanding how the position affects and compliments all other Community positions.
- Able to maintain work pace appropriate to given workload. Perform activities on schedule while maintaining regular attendance and punctuality within specified guidelines.
- Supervise activities and transportation staff. This includes providing training, setting other dept associates hours of work, providing performance feedback, recognizing both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors and performance, and working alongside subordinates as applicable.
- Develop, organize, plan, implement, and evaluate a well-rounded and engaging activity program that successfully addresses the interests and capabilities of the resident population.
- Assess the needs of the residents and use that knowledge to create an effective program. This includes observing when a resident's needs have changed and adjusting engagement plan as needed to continue to meet the preferences of residents in the Community.
- Maintain designated activity space so that the residents can have access to program supplies as well as a place to conduct group and individual activities.
- Drive Community van as needed, including assisting residents entering and exiting van.
- Attend regularly scheduled department head meetings.
- Participate in the New Hire Orientation program and other regular associate meetings or functions.
- Attend interdisciplinary meetings regarding resident's care needs as necessary.
- Attend the Resident Council meetings as invited by residents and assist as necessary.
- Decorate for holidays and special occasions and assure the community is always appropriately decorated.
- Conduct memorial services or other resident and family related events as requested.
- Craft the monthly newsletter, calendar and ensure all daily and weekly bulletins are posted for residents in a timely manner.
- Design and post creative monthly bulletin boards and activities calendar in common areas.
- Lead, delegate, or oversee both large and small group activities. This may include but is not limited to: live entertainment, gardening, arts and crafts, and other scheduled activities planned for all areas of the community. Most importantly, this involves creating and facilitating different activities for the varying levels of cognition and interest and modifying as necessary.
Qualifications of Activity Director:
- Activity Director experience preferred
- Creative and able to think out of the box
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel and stand for (sometimes) a long period of time
- Serious Applicants
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
