Social Service Assistant - Part Time; 1311-202-N

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.

Social Adult Day Program serves those age of 60 and over, who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. Program offered to clients and to their caregivers include the following services: case management, supportive counseling, group activities, caregiver support groups, training workshops/information, and referral services in a caring environment.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Social Service Assistant at the Alzheimer’s Adult Day Program will assist the clients with their daily therapeutic activities as well as perform administrative and receptionist tasks Transport elderly clients on regularly scheduled routes from their homes to destinations such as senior centers, supermarkets, shopping malls, medical appointments as determined by the Director or other assigned staff.

• Provide Intervention and follow-up with ADC challenges
• Chart progress of clients on daily basis
• Provides direct service to the clients
• Participate in program therapeutic recreational activities
• Responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing for clients on site.
• Maintain daily meal count
• Maintain monthly billing report for clients
• Perform clerical functions- filing and distributing daily mail deliveries.

• Attend suggested training and workshops.
• Assist staff with answering and logging calls
• Maintain office inventory and other supplies
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Experience in clerical and office skills.
• Good verbal and written command of Language.

• Good time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible and able to multi-task.

• Ability to lift up to 15lbs.
