Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
This is professional social service work of a supervisory nature in Behavioral Health/Developmental Services (BHDS).
Employees in this class supervise social service supervisors and workers, providing a variety of case management, counseling, and ancillary services to children, youth and families, people who are mentally disabled, people who are physically challenged, and others.
Work involves screening and evaluating requests for services, assigning, and reviewing work and evaluating work performance.
Work also involves collecting information regarding community resources and services and ensuring that staff is made aware of these resources as referral agencies for clients. Work also includes responsibility for participating in the development of policies and procedures, program planning, and service implementation, in service training activities, and the review and analysis of case records to determine quality of case management and the service delivery system.
Supervision may also be exercised over paraprofessional, clerical and other ancillary staff.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a professional or administrative supervisor, but employees are expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in meeting objectives.
Work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and results attained.
The Director of BHDS IDD Supports Coordination Organization must be knowledgeable about Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) regulations, bulletins and announcements. The individual must be able to access and navigate the State ODP Home and Community Service Information System (HCSIS) web-based information management system, and BHDS's local data management system (CARES).
The Director must be knowledgeable about interviewing policies and procedures and maintain documentation regarding training, positive actions, and needed corrective counseling. The Director will be responsible to supervise the IDD Supervisors. The Director will work to assure all staff are trained in the essential functions of their job duties, including accurate, & timely documentation of services rendered. They will promote a cooperative work effort with in BHDSs various components, e.g., Administrative, Mental Health, Early Intervention as well as with contracted service providers and with the community at large.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The employee is responsible for providing administrative and supervisory support of six (6) Intellectual & Developmental Disability Assistant Chief Caseworkers. The employee reports directly to the Director of IDD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of experience in public or private social work which included one year in a public welfare program and one year in a supervisory capacity; and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; OR
any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CLEARANCES
Must pass pre-employment drug screening test.
Must have acceptable background check that includes FBI Clearance, PA State Police criminal history and ChildLine clearances. Clearances are required prior to the start of employment and may not be more than one year old at time of employment.
A valid drivers license and acceptable driving history in accordance with County policy.
