This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Help
- Coordinate all queries regarding availability of health care services for exceptional family members of active-duty service members.
- Contact specialty care providers to determine whether level of care can be met within military treatment facility or in the civilian community.
- Prepare individualized letter for each service member outlining available resources, policies and procedures for accessing care.
- Conduct interviews to determine needs of service member and family to develop recommendations.
- Make appointments with medical personnel for diagnosis or evaluation of exceptional family member's condition.
- Coordinate with representatives of other activities to ensure the exceptional family member's required services are being met.
- Provide advice and guidance on the Exceptional Family Member Program.
- Assist sponsors and family members in completing program enrollment forms and other necessary documents.
- Utilize office automation equipment and various software packages to complete correspondence.
- Maintain a variety of statistics for use in annual reports, and resource planning.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes 1) Assisting with special needs program care coordination such as exceptional family member program; 2) Preparing documentation outlining available resources; and 3) Utilizing office automation equipment and various software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or other applicable field(s) of study.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
