Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lead Clinical Services Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care and support within our clinical setting. The Lead Clinical Services Specialist will provide oversight and leadership to Clinical Services Specialists responsible for delivering clinical casework and supportive services aimed at stabilizing and supporting clients served by the Clinical Services Department. This role will also ensure that all Clinical Services Specialists effectively manage their caseloads, deliver comprehensive case management and support to clients and families, and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in client records. This role includes direct supervision of staff and, when necessary, the management of a personal caseload to support departmental needs.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Director of Treatment Foster Care in supervising clinical specialists and ensures clinical specialists monitor clients and foster parents through face-to-face visits and other forms of communication to ensure the quality-of-care requirements are met according to their assessed Treatment Foster Care (TFC) level.
- Leads, with the Director of Treatment Foster Care, individual and group supervision meetings for staff this position supervises in the clinical services department.
- Provides coverage in meetings for clinical team when clinical specialists have conflicts in cases.
- Assists the DTFC in monitoring all audit lists and Electronic Health Record (EHR) due documents to ensure the clinical specialists administer written assessments within the required timeframe as determined by Virginia Licensed Child Placing Agency (LCPA) standards and the company’s policies and procedures. Verifies the clinical specialists have documented observations, progress, and concerns in the client’s chart and updates the on-call clinical specialist of any potential crises.
- Assists Director of Treatment Foster Care with editing and approving clinical documentation.
- Participates in monthly ongoing foster parent and pre-service foster parent training as needed.
- Assists in first-round recruiting.
- Develop and provide training plans for new clinical services specialists.
- Monitor and follow through with new hire training.
- Carry a minimal caseload of foster children as needed.
- Educate and counsel the client and family to meet their service and treatment plan goals.
- Coordinate services with other agencies and providers and ensure the client has access to medical, social, educational, and other services appropriate to the needs of the child.
- Coordinate family visits, supervised or unsupervised, with the foster family, referring agency, and community-based services department.
- Attends all interdisciplinary team meetings, such as a court hearing, FAPT, or school meetings.
- Coordinate with referring agencies regarding discharge. Counsel clients and families in preparation for discharge.
- Provide transportation for clients when needed. Abides by the company's minimum driver guidelines for transportation. Ensures children's safety by properly using car seats and seat belts and following all traffic laws.
- Assist in crisis management.
- Acts as an on-call employee on a rotating schedule, providing 24/7 support to our families and clients served and receiving emergency referrals for placement within our program after hours.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA requirements.
- Knowledge of the Therapeutic Community model.
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care.
- Ability to critically assess and screen foster/adoptive parents and clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a directly related human service field from an accredited college is preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a directly related Human service field degree from an accredited college is preferred, but it is required that this position holds a Bachelor’s degree of any kind.
- This position requires at least three years of experience providing direct case management services. Experience working with the foster care population is preferred
- This position requires a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- This position will require a driver's license valid in the state where the worksite is located, as the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certified, or willing to obtain certification, is required.
