**Job Description Summary:**

This position requires someone with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and social work licensure, preferably LISW licensure. This associate helps facilitate support groups for a variety of neuro/behavioral health patient populations and/or their caregivers (and may help develop new support groups). The social worker assists with development and deployment of other patient and caregiver groups and classes, and interacts on a daily basis with individual patients, caregivers and visitors seeking support, information, and resource referral assistance. Knowledge of counseling principles and techniques is an important knowledge base for this role. This person has the opportunity to create new programming and may lead or teach educational offerings or presentations. This position also receives direct referrals from providers requesting various interactions with patients/caregivers.

The individual in this position is also responsible for oversight of daily operations of the Dempsey Family Education and Resource Center in the Neuroscience Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital. This work includes maintaining the Center coverage schedule of several paid, contracted and volunteer associates, ensuring educational programs and support groups run smoothly, assisting with updates to educational, resource and marketing materials and interfacing with other OhioHealth Neuroscience associates and providers plus community partners in order to assess and address consumers needs.

**Responsibilities And Duties:**

65% Functions as the Center social worker. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in order to best assess and address consumers educational, support and resource needs and related opportunities in an ongoing fashion; for example, works with OH Neuroscience associates, physicians, advance practice providers, nurses, social workers, administrators, etc. and with community partners (such as the Parkinson's Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, Mental Health America, etc.). Provides support and education to consumers and the public as appropriate. Assists with linking patients, visitors, caregivers with Center, system and community resources. Facilitates or co-facilitates support groups, develops or assists with development of support groups, classes, and other programming. Represents the Center at some system meetings and in community events within the social work role. Reviews educational and other materials maintained for patients/caregivers for content within parameters of the social work role.

35% Responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Center, ensuring that groups, classes and other programs occur as planned (in partnership with other Center associates and system partners such as Media Services, IT, etc. when needed). Maintains Center staffing schedule for several other associates, contracted employees (music and art therapists) and volunteers. In coordination with System Director, Neuroscience, leads the Center team. Functions in the timekeeper role for payroll. Assists with ongoing assessment of Center activities and related planning. Oversees collection of Center data and outcomes; works with Director to analyze and/or report data and to modify parameters as needed. Represents OhioHealth/Center at system and community meetings, health fairs, and educational events as needed. Assists with marketing of the Center and its services. Assists with maintenance or creation of Center marketing materials/program fliers. Miscellaneous other duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

Master's Degree: Social Work (Required)LISW - Licensed Independent Social Worker - Social Work Certification and Licensure Board

**SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE**

Masters level social work training and social work licensure (LISW preferred). Experience working with patients and families in a healthcare setting. Experience in leading or co-facilitating support groups, with knowledge and experience with counseling principles and techniques. History of working with patients with neurological disorders or behavioral health diagnoses is a plus. Awareness of community resources and how to access them. Team lead experience a plus.
