Through a continuum of services, Tampa Bay Area Therapist and Associates provides education, counseling, psychiatric services and supervision to individuals and families in their home community. Tampa Bay Area Therapist and Associates provides individual, group counseling and psychiatric services in the surrounding Tampa Bay as well as other surrounding areas in the State of Florida. Skills / Requirements: The candidate must have Masters Degree in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education, and/or a human services field and have knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and Medicaid documentation requirements.

Primary Job Responsibilities

The mental health therapist must have Masters Degree in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education, and/or a human services field and have knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and Medicaid documentation requirements. This is a community based behavioral healthcare in-homes and schools that provides clinical excellence to children, adolescents, adults and families throughout Florida.

This Clinician will provide individual trauma-focused therapy using various evidence-based modalities. In this role, the ideal candidate will provide EMDR Therapy, as well as other trauma-informed approaches. Part of this position is to participate in daily Treatment Team meetings and provide clinical services in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. Previous experience working in an inpatient or residential treatment setting is preferred.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling related field and a minimum of 2-3 years full-time work experience working directly with children and families who are victims of substance abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, or youth who have been adjudicated delinquent and committed and are emotionally disturbed.
  • They must also have a minimum of 2-3 years experience working with foster parents. The Candidate must carry current and valid Individual Professional Liability Insurance Coverage as well as proper car insurance. In addition the candidate MUST be licensed in the state of Florida.
  • Provides mental health and/or substance use counseling services according to discipline standards and in accordance to policies and procedures
  • Reviews and responds to electronic and hand written mail, memoranda and other correspondence and responds to phone inquiries timely (within 24-hours or next available business day) in a professional manner
  • Maintains ongoing chart audits to ensure compliance and quality assurance of services provide
  • Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing community resources as supportive services and discharge planning
  • Serves as a liaison for the client, family, referral source and other social service agencies
  • Work with purpose - Ability to report to work as scheduled, in a timely fashion and will an attitude oriented toward service
  • Works effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals experiencing an exacerbation of either psychiatric, substance use and/or medical symptoms, as well as experiencing a stressful situation
  • Must successfully complete all criminal background checks annually
  • Must be Computer literate
  • Qualified to provide EMDR treatment, RRT, or another Trauma-Informed Therapy.
  • Worked with child adoptions.
  • Worked with Children 0-5, 5-14 year olds.
  • PCIT a Plus
  • TFCBT a Plus
  • EMDR a Plus

*Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in mental health or addiction treatment preferred.

*Experience in other trauma-informed modalities is extremely helpful.

*Active and unrestricted Florida license in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Capacity to provide consistent services to clients on a weekly basis with appropriate documentation that includes: assessments, treatment plans, reviews, progress notes, case summaries, and reports, etc.
  • Ability to assess clients’ needs and work interactively to help them develop appropriate treatment plans and clinical goals, and document progress
  • Work with diverse caseload.
  • A desire to participate as a member of our healing community, sharing in regularly scheduled monthly case conferences
  • Commitment to working with clients from diverse cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Positive, sustained energy and an optimistic outlook
  • Adequate computer skills and excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills

  • Serve high-risk families, including those whose children are at substantial risk of placement or who are in placement and cannot be reunified without in-home services. Foster Care
  • Schedule sessions at times that are convenient for families, and when problems are likely to occur, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Maintain a flexible workweek.
  • Provide back-up for other therapists and collaborate with the medical psychiatrist when needed.
  • Participate in weekly team consultation meeting, and individual supervision as needed.
