SUMMARY STATEMENT: 

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for providing integrated behavioral health assessment and care coordination for inmates in correctional facilities.  This includes identifying inmates with behavioral health issues, providing direct patient care and psychological assessment and working with the Correctional Facility team to provide the best care possible. 

NatCore Healthcare offers a very flexible schedule and provides technology that will allow clinicians to spend one day in the clinic and provide counseling sessions using telemedicine.

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Manage a caseload of clients to assure coordination of behavioral health services.   

  • Perform behavioral health assessments, intakes and follow-ups as needed. 

  • Work with other medical staff to integrate and coordinate medical and behavioral health services. 

  • May occasionally be required to participate in restraining an offender primarily for medical reasons; 

  • Administer patient care in a manner that is consistent with department protocols and physician’s orders 

  • Maintain patient care reports, files, forms, and charts 

  • Provides standardized patient education within established nursing guidelines; 

  • Promotes and is accountable for safety and security of the clinical environment through conscientious observations and sensitive item/contraband control including counting syringes, needles, narcotics, instruments, and key control; 

  • This position may be required to work any shift, weekends, and holidays. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Employees will perform duties in an office, a medical clinic, and jail.  The clinican will also be able to utilize technology to provide counseling sessions while not in the clinic.  

The employee must be able to make quick, lucid decisions during physically and mentally stressful situations.  The employee may be required to lift equipment that does not normally exceed 10 pounds.  The employee’s job entails the possibility to exposure to dangerous situations.  The above job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the employee.  This job posting is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required of the employee 

EXAMPLES OF JOB COMPETENCIES: 

Knowledge of: 

  • Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers 

  • Proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar 

  • Patient care reporting and basic medical terminology 

Ability to:  

  • Learn state and federal regulatory requirements concerning patient care and the release of private health information 

  • Understand and comply with contracts and business associate agreements 

  • Demonstrate compassion 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field. 

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor 

  • Certified Addictions Counselor 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience in providing medical care to in a correctional setting
