Requisition Number 10-0930 Title Medical Social Worker (Home Health) - Part Time/PRN City Tuscaloosa State AL Description Assist and counsel patients and families with health related financial, social and emotional concerns according to the physician's orders. State Specific-DESCRIPTION -Utah State Specific: (1) When medical social services are provided, they shall be provided by a certified social worker (CSW)or by a social service worker (SSW) supervised by a certified social worker, in accordance with the plan of care. Requirements 1. A person who has a master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and has 1 year of social work experience in a health care setting. 2. Meets state and federal requirements for this position. 3. Current CPR certification. 4. Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer, such as, user names and password concepts; internet; e-mail; navigation of computer desktop, including starting programs, using files, and windows, effectively use navigation buttons and tool bars; ability to self-manage online HR services and online training programs. State Specific-QUALIFICATIONS -Alabama State Specific:Must be licensed by the Alabama board of Social Work Examiners as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) or a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW ) in accordance with Title 34, Chapter 30, Section 22. -Alaska State Specific: Regulation AS 08.95: (a) A person who practices clinical social work without obtaining a license under this chapter to practice clinical social work is guilty of a class B misdemeanor unless the person is (1) licensed under a provision of this title that is outside this chapter, is practicing within the scope of that license, and is not representing to the public by title or description of service as being engaged in the practice of clinical social work; or (2) practicing clinical social work as a student in a social work program approved by the board. Home Health regulation: 07 AAC 012.523. Medical Social Work Service. (a) If a home health agency offers medical social services, the services must be delivered in accordance with the patient's plan of care by, or under the supervision of, a social worker who has (1) a master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the National Council on Social Work Education; (2) one year of social work experience in a health care setting; and (3) if required to be licensed under AS 08.95 , a valid license. -Arizona State Specific: "Social worker" means an individual who holds a master's degree from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. AZ HHA R9-10-1101. Definitions B. 10.- Medical social work shall be provided by a social worker.. Each social worker shall have one year of social work experience in a health care setting. One (1) year of social work experience in a health care setting. -California State Specific: A person who has a Master of Social Work degree from a school of social work accredited or approved by the Council on Social Work Education and have one year of social work experience in a health care setting.Note: Authority cited: Section 208(a), Health and Safety Code. Reference: Sections 1727 and 1734, Health and Safety Code. -Colorado State Specific: Medical Social Worker - Master's Degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education -Delaware State Specific: Social worker" means an individual who has met the requirements of a graduate curriculum, leading to a master's degree, in a school of social work that is accredited by the council on Social Work Education. -Florida State Specific: 1. Graduate of an accredited school of social work. 2. One (1) year of experience in social services. 3. The social worker shall not provide clinical counseling to patients or caregivers unless licensed pursuant to Chapter 491, F.S. -Illinois State Specific: Medical Social Worker - a person who is a licensed social worker or a licensed clinical social worker under the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act and has a minimum of one year of social work experience in a health care setting. -Indiana State Specific: IC 25-23.6-1-10 "Social worker" Sec. 10. "Social worker" means an individual who graduates from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. As added by P.L.186-1990, SEC.9. Amended by P.L.147-1997, SEC.26. -Iowa State Specific: All levels of Master Prepared Social Workers must be licensed even if the social worker is not practicing clinical social work. 154C.2 LICENSE REQUIRED -- EXCEPTION -- USE OF TITLE. 1. A person shall not engage in the practice of social work unless the person is licensed pursuant to this chapter. A person who is not licensed pursuant to this chapter shall not use words or titles which imply or represent that the person is a licensed bachelor social worker, licensed master social worker, or licensed independent social worker. 2. Notwithstanding subsection 1, persons trained as bachelor social workers, or employed as bachelor social workers, are not required to be licensed. 3. Section 147.83 does not apply to persons who are not licensed as bachelor social workers and who do not hold themselves out as licensed bachelor social workers. -Kansas State Specific: Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Masters Social Worker by the Behavioral Science Regulatory Board -Kentucky State Specific: All social workers must be licensed. Certified Social Worker (CSW); or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Kentucky Board of Social Work. -Louisiana State Specific: 1. Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Louisiana Board of Social Worker Examiners or 2. Master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Restrictions: An unlicensed medical social worker may not contract directly with the home health agency for clinical services, consultation, supervision or educational services. -Maryland State Specific : A Licensed Certified Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Maryland Board of Social Worker Examiners. -Massachusetts State Specific: Licensed Certified Social Worker, LCSW; Licensed Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Work. -Michigan State Specific: Licensed Master Social Worker by the Michigan Board of Social Work. -Mississippi State Specific: 1. Master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is licensed by the State of Mississippi as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW). 2. One (1) year of social work experience in a health care setting. -Missouri State Specific: 1. Master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. 2. One (1) year of social work experience in a health care setting. -New Jersey State Specific: "Social worker" means a person who is licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Social Work Examiners and has a master's degree in social work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and at least one year of post-master's social work experience in a health care setting as per N.J.S.A. 45-15BB-1 et seq. The NJ BOSW cites: "Licensed clinical social worker" means a person who holds a current, valid license issued pursuant to subsection a. of section 6 or subsection a. or d. of section 8 of this act.
