Job Title: Admissions Counselor/Career Transition Specialist

Description:
Function Reports to the State Coordinators for OA and CTS, respectively. Responsible for outreach and admissions services and career transition services for students in compliance with government and management directives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs outreach and admissions services, as required, within an assigned territory. 2. Recommend advertising for recruitment. 3. Ensure that all applicants/students arrive safely on the assigned Center by following established OMG procedures. 4. Provide Job Corps career orientation and overall Job Corps program orientation to prospective students. 5. Collect and verify all required applicant documentation to determine eligibility for Job Corps. 6.. Ensure student acceptance into the program 7. Actively be involved with students and Centers being served on achieving good case management by demonstrating good student retention. 8. Establish personal contact with referral source agencies, organizations and community support organizations. 9. Conduct at least five face-to-face visits and five new outreach contacts each month and maintain ten linkage contacts each month. 10. Provide follow-up on all prospective students awaiting assignment and ensure that students maintain their interest in the program. 11. Maintain active follow-up with enrollees after enrollment to monitor 30 and 60 day performance. Be actively involved in the students? Career Preparation Period through regular contacts and visits, when feasible. 12. Conduct tours of the Centers with individuals and/or groups. 13. Ensure students assigned to Job Corps Center prior to graduation are provided quality career placement efforts resulting in job attachment. 14. Acts as liaison with Contract CTS and Center Placement staff to place students prior to separation. 15. Establish personal contact with prospective area employers to expand job development efforts for employment opportunities. Maintain contact with at least five employers per month. 16. Conduct employment skills training classes on interviewing. Maintain record of participant progress through employment skills training. 17. Assist participants in focusing on their occupational preferences through interest/ability assessments. 18. Arrange for job interviews for students. 19. Provide job development services for specific, assigned occupational clusters. 20. Assist students with transitional services, i.e., housing, transportation, personal services. 21. Provide continuous follow-up with all terminated students. 22. Develop and monitor on-the-job training contracts. 23. Comply with the Quality Assurance Plan and ensure that data integrity is upheld. 24. Conduct at least ten on-site visits with employers each month. 25. Clearly communicate and consistently model appropriate employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency. 26. Maintain accountability of property, adheres to safety practices, and performs safety inspections in the area of responsibility. 27. Performs other duties, as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: ? Bachelor?s degree preferred or four years of related experience. ? One year experience in sales, marketing, or counseling related services. ? Ability to interact with employers and program participants. ? Knowledge of existing federal, state and local government legislation governing the hiring of employees. ? Possess job placement skills. ? Ability to establish liaisons and interact with private and public agencies. ? Ability to document placement activities/services provided in accurate manner. ? Ability to interact cooperatively with admissions staff to assist in providing adequate information to ensure quality placement as goal. ? Ability to interact with individuals from economically and socially diverse backgrounds. ? Ability to create and maintain database files on integrated computer system. ? A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or related field plus relevant experience is required. Master's degree is preferred.
