Job Details: Provides evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and psychotherapy for adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients with addictive disorders. Reports to the Program Coordinator. Performs addiction and mental status assessment on patients admitted to the program under the supervision of the physician. Participates alone, or with a co-therapist, in addiction counseling groups, including educational, recreational and community milieu treatment groups or programs. Provides ongoing individual, couples and family addiction counseling as appropriate for patients. Reviews and identifies eligibility for health insurance and/or entitlements. Obtains authorization for indicated clinical services and reviews/updates as indicated. Maintains accurate, professional documentation of appropriate information as required by hospital policy, Joint Commission, state and federal standards and managed care entities. Requirements: • Professional knowledge of addictive and psychiatric disorders and their clinical manifestations affecting the adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations. • Knowledge of self-help groups for addiction recovery within the community. • Demonstrated working knowledge of addiction-focused individual, group and family counseling theory and practice. • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. • Minimum of an Master's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Counseling or other related field. Licensure required. • Current certification as a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LADC) in the State of Connecticut preferred. • Minimum two years of experience in addiction/dual diagnosis treatment required. This is a non-exempt, part-time position (32 hours/week) that reports to the Direct Care Supervisor or the Assistant Supervisor in the absence of the Direct Care Supervisor. The Counselor?s schedule may include mandatory overtime and shifts on Saturdays and/or Sundays. An AS degree is required. A BS/BA degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice or another human services field is preferred. At least one year of experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed youth, preferably in a residential setting are required. Alternatively, an AS degree and at least two years of progressively more responsible experience with the same population are acceptable. The incumbent must know and be able to apply the agency?s trauma-informed treatment philosophy and be able to maintain certification in TCI, CPR, First Aid and DCF Medication Administration. This position may involve the use of physical restraints (using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) if a young person is attempting to hurt him/herself or another human being. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the House Supervisor. AS degree in psychology, social work or a human services field (BA or BS degree preferred), and one year of experience working with emotionally disturbed, behaviorally disordered youth are required.
