Due to budget considerations, this position is being filled as a remainder of the school year only position. Please be aware that this position is grant funded and at the end of the school year this position may be authorized through the 2010-2011 school year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step (step one) of the grade of the position. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Under general direction of and in combination with the PIRC Grant Coordinator, plans, develops, coordinates, and implements strategies specified by the Federal PIRC grant.  Supports the objectives of the Parent Involvement Initiative Strategic Plan as they relate to the PIRC grant.  Performs related work as required.  EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Implements components of the PIRC Grant and related programs between schools, family resource centers, the Education Collaborative, and the WCSD Early Childhood programs; at the state and local level coordinates parent involvement trainings and parent involvement summit activities as outlined in the PIRC grant; coordinates services between the program participants; supports communication regarding No Child Left Behind; supports implementation of the Parent Involvement Strategic Initiative; develops communication strategies and products that will inform parents of school choice, and state and federal guidelines under NCLB; structures train the trainer sessions in other counties; complies with Federal statutes, District regulations and guidelines; works with school improvement teams; provides the Title I office with help during peak times; carries out the PIQE program, including technical assistance to schools implementing a Parent Involvement program; acts as advisory support to the Parent Involvement Council in regards to the specific programs this position is responsible for; carries out the Center for Parent Leadership Program, including helping parents to understand the school improvement plans, contributing, and participating on school improvement teams; completes all related duties upon assignment for appropriate administrative staff. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education/Experience:  Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain knowledge and skills would be: 1.    A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.  A Master’s Degree is desirable.                                                                         AND 2.    A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in program management and/or teaching or in the field of education or a human service related program.  Experience with programs designed to deliver educational/supplemental programming to diverse populations, across preschool to high school levels and the ability to utilize needs assessments to develop and implement program strategies in the areas of Parent Involvement is highly desirable.  Knowledge of:  Knowledge of effective practices, including basic record keeping and budgeting procedures; basic techniques for organizing programs, activities and work schedules; planning and evaluating workshops and in-service classes; preparing budgets; organizing programs; principles of effective management; and federal education programs; bilingual in Spanish preferred.Skill at:  Facilitating meetings, working with teachers, administrators and parents and communicating and working cooperatively with co-professionals and other adults; speaking with statewide groups, and communicating effectively across a diverse spectrum of people with different socioeconomic standings; interacting and developing positive relations with staff, teachers, administrators, parents and community members; providing leadership; dealing with the concerns of teachers, administrators and parents; communicating effectively both verbally and in writing; researching information and resources; computer operations; analyzing data, trends, and problems, and developing solutions; formulating procedures to ensure objectives are met; maintaining and following up on responsibilities; time management, planning, developing, organizing, executing and evaluating programs; organizing and conducting meetings; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Licenses/Certificates:  Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Nevada driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District.   Special Considerations:  This position requires the ability to work a variable work schedule, including weekends, and the incumbent must be able to travel.  Bilingual and the ability to provide professional development to educators as well as families are desirable.EOE
