Job coaches are Para-professionals serving hard-to-employ individuals with substantial barriers to employment. Duties may include but are not limited to: -Home Visits-in partnership with the company and/or DHS staff, conduct home visits to help participants problem solve barriers and program attendance concerns, provide detailed program information, refer individuals and families to available and appropriate program services or resources, and facilitate strength-based goal identification processes. -Barrier Removal-work closely with participants on barrier removal, which may include making referral to other community organizations that may help participants remove-resolve barriers to self-sufficient, housing, child care, and drug and alcohol issues. Work may include stressful interactions with participants who may have significant barriers to self-sufficiency. -Workforce Services-work one-on-one or in groups to help participants with work etiquette, employer-employee relations, and to resolve home-to-work issues. Job coaches may also act as a liaison to the company employment specialist, DHS case manager, and work site supervisors to assist the participant in reaching program goals. -Close coordination and effective communication with the company and DHS staff, maintain accurate and detailed records and reports.
