POSITION SUMMARY: PEP Jobs helps Bay Area individuals and businesses achieve their employment goals by preparing persons with epilepsy for success in today's workplace. Individuals making the transition into new work environments benefit from PEP Jobs' career and employment counseling, job placement, and retention services. The Job Coach provides comprehensive support and services to persons with epilepsy who are beginning a new job, allowing them to maintain employment. The position "fades out" when employee is able to function adequately without support of the Job Coach. PEP Jobs is an employment program offered through the California Pacific Medical Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: A. People a. Provide individual task analysis and task training to clients on-the-job. b. Facilitate communication during orientation and training sessions offered by employers. c. Maintain contact with employer and client following placement to ensure job stability. d. Provide ongoing support to clients, including addressing deficits in social behavior, work speed, and other skills necessary to adequately perform their job. e. Responsible for completing all required documentation, including monthly billing reports, case notes and additional case records in a timely fashion f. Attend all required meetings and in-services. g. Maintain a professional relationship with clients, employers, and appropriate others; and for maintaining confidentiality. B. Service a. Assists client in building natural support systems on-site by encouraging relationship building with coworkers and supervisors b. Conducts on-site Situational Assessments to determine the work skills of a job seeker c. Advocates for client needs with management when necessary concerning poor or unethical on-the-job conditions (ie: hours, breaks, pay, etc.) d. Conducts weekly Job Club meetings for clients and referrals to program C. Quality a. Responsible for recording client progress and tracking of billable hours using PEP JOBS' forms. b. Maintains records of employer contacts, program data, client files and other records as needed, to ensure compliance with DOR Certification and CARF standards. c. Contributes to placement progress reports for external case managers, referral sources and physicians where appropriate. d. Assists in preparation of program satisfaction evaluations for recipients. D. Finance: Helps to ensure financial solvency by maximizing billable time and reducing costs and expenses to the extent possible. E. Growth Develops knowledge of requirements of DOR, CARF and PEP Jobs' requirements and procedures; knowledge of occupational and disability issues. Other Job Functions: Travel to client work sites, meeting locations and within 3-county service area is required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or rehab counseling preferred. Experience: Minimum of one year teaching or supervising adults with disabilities, preferably in a vocational setting.
