NATURE AND SCOPE: New Vista Ranch, Inc. is hiring for a Program Director who will be responsible to lead, unify, supervise, and train staff and supervisors. Has the primary responsibility for the operation and administration of the residents of New Vista Ranch. Responsible to further the overall mission of New Vista Ranch that assists adults who are developmentally disabled, and work as a key member of the management team by following all policies and procedures. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Review and become familiar with New Vista Ranch policies, programs, and procedures. Administer, establish procedures and implement policies of the Board of Trustees related to: program development, professional consultants, house managers (full time and relief staff). Develop and implement programs that are beneficial to NVR residents. Supervise the house managers, professional consultants, and all program coordinators. Document all counseling sessions with staff, and maintain employment files for all program staff. Coordinate: Parent/resident relations with house managers and consultants Responsible for program staff schedules All intake/discharge meetings with appropriate information(can not admit or discharge a resident without approval of executive director) All annual and semi annual "Individual Support Planning Team" meetings Coordinate monthly mailings (reports and information) to parents and/or guardians of residents Network with private and public agencies on behalf of all residents Conduct interviews, check and verify prior employment, references of prospective program employees. Certification of staff members: cpr/1st aide, medication administration, ect. Attend all ISP (individual support planning) meetings and have available the outcomes of the programs being run, personal profile, ABS (adaptive behavior scale) assessment, and goals/dreams of resident. Develop, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of resident activities and personal money for resident activities to facilitate the achievement of identified goals for the specific developmental and behavioral management of needs of each resident in the least restrictive environment possible. Complete relevant forms and reports. Maintain case records and/or files of each NVR resident. Provide consultation and training to both residents and program staff as needed. Review and develop individual support plans to assist resident in growth and development. Monitor monthly all support plans in place to ensure effectiveness, recommend change if no progress noted in a three month period. Conduct monthly staff meeting with program staff. Monitor timecards and PTO requests of program staff. Submit monthly report of overall progress and/or concerns of ranch programs, staff, residents to executive director, for submission to the Board of Trustees Submit weekly progress reports to the executive director Conduct employee performance reviews for program staff. Assure the safety and growth of residents of NVR Maintain good communication with executive director, parents/guardians, state service coordinators, professional consultants as needed. Update executive director on a weekly basis of any resident and/or staff needs. Conduct audit on homes, house casebooks, medication, programs, staff involvement, recreation, disaster plans, and safety training every six months. Review all incident/medication reports by program staff and report to executive director. Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the executive director. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a Bachelor or postgraduate degree in a human service field Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational ability, can work with Microsoft word and excel. Thorough working knowledge of mental health/mentally challenged supported living programs, procedures. Must have a minimum of three years experience in field with supervisory experience. Candidate must have discretion, able to maintain confidentiality, good judgments and work as a team player. Working environment is primarily normal office environment, occasional overtime. Physical activities may be required daily: bending, kneeling, or lifting and carrying boxes of files, documents, weighing up to 25 pounds, sitting for several hours a day. Driving to various locations as needed, spending up to 80% of time using a video display terminal.
