Hiring Salary for this position is $28,754 The position of Victim Advocate Grant Funded through 12/31/10. The position is responsible for assisting victims in dealing with the immediate and long-term impact of victimization. This position works in the Victim Advocacy Program under the supervision of the Crisis Services Coordinator in the area of victimization and crisis intervention. The position will be subject to call-out to assist in providing immediate crisis intervention to victims and witnesses of crime. This position requires a minimum of one year of experience in a customer service or related field. Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Valid Arizona Driver's License is required. The ideal candidate will have prior Victim Advocacy experience. Prior Crisis Intervention training and/or experience is preferred.  Social services/counseling experience a plus. EXAMINATION PROCESS Only a limited number of the most highly qualified applicants meeting the City’s requirements will be invited for an interview. Examination process for this position will include: Panel Interview Polygraph Test Background Interview Psych Evaluation   VOLUNTEER/ ADMINISTRATIVE POLICE EMPLOYEE AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFIERS The City of Goodyear Police Department will automatically disqualify any individual who has at any time: Been convicted of a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in Arizona. Been dishonorably discharged from the United States armed forces. Illegally sold, produced, cultivated, or transported marijuana for sale. Illegally used marijuana for any purpose within the last two years. Illegally used a dangerous drug or narcotic, other than marijuana, for any purpose within five years. Used or tried narcotic or dangerous drug by injection. Exhibited a pattern of abusing prescription medication. Lied during any stage of the hiring process. Falsified his or her questionnaire or application. DISCRECTIONARY DISQUALIFIERS The following disqualifiers may, upon review by the Goodyear Police Department, make you ineligible to work or volunteer for the department: An inability to perform the essential functions of the position. Unlawful sexual conduct. Debts demonstrating an unwillingness to honor fiscal contracts or just debts. Any shoplifting arrest(s) in the last three years. Theft of any merchandise from an employer within the last three years. (this does not include minor amounts of office supplies) Receipt of more than six ticketed traffic offenses in the last three years. DUI, reckless driving, serious traffic violations within the last three years. Illegall use of marijuana, dangerous drugs or narcotics after the age of 21 that shows a pattern of abuse, addiction or concern. Use any hallucinogenic drug including hallucinogenic mushrooms (except during religious ceremonies). Hallucinogenic drugs also include LSD. Unresolved responses to relevant issues when administered a polygraph examination. Any other conduct or pattern of conduct that would tend to disrupt, diminish, or otherwise jeopardize public trust in the law enforcement profession. ADDITIONAL SCREENING Completion of the following: Goodyear PD background questionnaire. Pre-polygraph interview. Polygraph examination. Psychological evaluation. Credit history check. Controlled substance screening. All discretionary disqualifiers are based on a background investigators recommendations and a supervisors discretion and judgment. The background criteria is meant as a guideline to help insure the best applicants are found, and the security and integrity of the department is maintained.

33028 Job Description Ensures that the emotional, social and safety needs of their clients and/or the clients' family are met and maintained on an individual basis in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.  Provides crisis intervention and assists families in understanding the implications and complexities of domestic violence.  Collaborates with the Family Advocacy Program (FAP), the Army Community Service Family Advocacy Program Manager (FAPM), law enforcement, legal and medical facilities, and the command to assure safety plans are coordinated.  Ensures the availability of 24-hour victim advocacy services either through personal or telephonic contact.  Position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.  Individual must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision or independently and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
