Description:
Provides social work / psychological treatment / consultation services to alcohol and drug dependent military and civilian personnel, retirees and family members in initial treatment, while undergoing rehabilitation and during follow-up care. Provides therapy for individual patients and provides consultation assistance to commanders, supervisors and medical personnel. In individual and group therapy, explores basic personality structures in relationship to development of behavior patterns, mechanism and symptoms; in determining facts concerning patients' alcohol and / or drug dependency and the underlying causes; and in understanding consequences for the individual. Counsels the patient's family and significant others to obtain social and personal information related to development of the substance dependency / abuse and ascertains impact of the problems on individual family members, the family unit and others. Performs other duties as assigned.
