Description: Adult Parole & Probation Department
Position responsible for managing a caseload of adult offenders convicted of felonies and misdemeanors that have been placed on probation, parole, or post-prison supervision by the courts, Board of Parole and / or Supervisory Authority Board. Duties include but are not limited to, supervising and monitoring offender?s compliance with conditions of supervision and holding offenders accountable for non-compliant conduct; preparing pre-sentence and other reports and recommendations requested by the releasing authority. Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor?s degree in a behavioral science or in a related field with major course work in a behavioral science and two years of experience in direct delivery of services to clientele in a social service, rehabilitative or correctional program, OR an Associate?s degree with four years experience, OR six years equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of the Oregon criminal justice system; a thorough understanding of the principles of Evidenced Based Practices, Stages of Change, and Motivational Interviewing; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to monitor and supervise the conduct of adult offenders; ability to perform searches, to physically restrain offenders and to transport them to custodial facilities; ability to access the Department of Corrections computer system and Law Enforcement Data System.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver?s License within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon an acceptable and verifiable driver?s license and driving history.
? Possession of or ability to obtain DPSST Certification as a Parole & Probation Officer within 18 months of hire date.
? A skills test will be administered.
FINAL CANDIDATE SELECTED FOR POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A DRUG SCREENING, A THOROUGH EMPLOYMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY INVESTIGATION, AND A PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION.
