Duties: As a credential hospital staff member, provides sophisticated social work consultation in direct services as directed to selected ASAP clients. Provides therapy for individual patients and provides consultation assistance to Commanders, supervisors, and medical personnel. In individual and group therapy, explores basic personality structures in relationship to development of behavior patterns, mechanisms, and symptoms, and determines facts concerning patient's alcohol and drug dependency, the underlying causes, and understanding consequences for the individual. Analyzes and evaluates information developed concerning the patient's substance abuse / dependency, staffs cases with supervisor, makes a diagnosis, and advises Commanders and supervisors as to treatment plan, design, and development. Formulates treatment goals for individual patients that meet casework prescriptions. Other duties as assigned. About the Position: Federal employees seeking CTAP / ICTAP eligibility must submit proof that they meet the requirements of 5 CFR 330.605(a) for CTAP and 5 CFR 330.704 for ICTAP. Qualifications: General Schedule Basic Requirements: SOCIAL WORKER: Degree: Applicant must possess a masters degree in Social Work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The degree must have included a practicum and be at least 48 credits. LICENSURE: All applicants MUST be licensed as a social worker by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands. This licensure must be at the Masters level according to the ASWB. Be sure and state the type of licensure you possess and from where it was obtained. Failure to do so will result in non-consideration of your resume. SUBSTANCE ABUSE CERTIFICATION: Substance abuse certification acquired through passing a proctored examination, from a State or nationally accredited certifying body is REQUIRED in addition to the qualification requirements listed above. Please be sure and state the type of certification you possess and from where it was obtained. *NOTE: Employees who possess the required ASAP certification and licensure below the Independent Practice Level, may be appointed and, after voluntarily at their own expense obtaining the Independent Practice License may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade level. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to experience in providing psychological treatment and consultation services to alcohol and drug dependent clients while in initial treatment, undergoing rehabilitation, and during follow-up care.
