About the Position:
Duties Continued: Participates as a member of the outpatient mental health team within the context of a multidisciplinary team that evaluates patients & coordinates care for active duty & assists in accessing the appropriate level of psychiatric care.
About the Position: Majority of work is performed in an outpatient clinical setting & may do briefings with command within their units. Services will be provided in the Medical Treatment Facility, outpatient Community Mental Health clinic, Troop Medical Clinic (TMC), or Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) site, as determined by Hospital mission needs. Some degree of hazard is present in working with emotionally disturbed patients.
Position requires mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination.
Work schedule will be 13:30-22:00.
Minimal stooping, bending or lifting up to 20 pounds. Some traveling to meetings in other clinics / hospitals for coordinating with multidisciplinary team members / other hospital admin.

Major Duties:
Contact and maintain open communication with the chain of command and soldiers identified as high risk by mental health providers. Schedule meetings with the chain of command and other appropriate team members as deemed necessary by outpatient psychiatrist / psychologist / or appropriate providers. Facilitate outpatient groups as needed. Develop outpatient caseload as directed by the mental health providers. Maintain ongoing follow-up with patients identified in caseload. Document all interactions, chain of command meetings and all other appropriate issues pertinent to the soldier's case as directed by the outpatient provider psychiatrist / psychologist. Maintain ongoing comprehensive outpatient care with identified high-risk soldiers during outpatient treatment. Address patterns or problems at the client level, provider and or system level to promote smooth transition of soldiers through the outpatient treatment program.

General Schedule
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify applicants must possess one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level that equipped the applicant with thorough knowledge of Army Community Services programs, available mental health care services, and referral and follow-up procedures. Ability to identify and assist in resolving psychosocial problems faced by soldiers, their families and within the specific military community. Knowledge of a wide range social and psychiatric procedures used in the treatment and care of psychiatric patients with complicated, multiple or complex problems. Clinical expertise and skills required assessing patients to identify psychological and identify problems, strengths, and limitations that may impede treatment. Ability to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care intervention. Clinical expertise required to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment / care, identify deviations from the standards of care and to recommend and initiate corrective actions. Ability to effectively interact and form collaborative relationship with providers, soldiers, chain of command, families, and all members of the multidisciplinary treatment team levels of staff, and community services / agencies. Knowledge of the basic goals and objectives of the professions on the multidisciplinary team to include: psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social services, ASAP, and Chaplain services. Knowledge concerning discharge planning and continuing quality improvement. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Sufficient computer literacy to input, access and retrieve information from various databases and to perform word processing, spreadsheets, and data base functions. Knowledge of the indications for use, correct administration of and side effects of commonly used psychiatric medications.
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-8 only in those instances where education is directly related to the work of the position.
