Crisis Prevention and Outreach - Child and Family Outpatient Services
Position Summary: Participates as a member of the Home and Intensive Out-patient Services Team (HIOPS) and the Crisis Prevention Outreach Team (CPO) to provide intensive specialized services for children, adolescents, and their caregivers in need of outpatient counseling services who are living in a group home, foster care or biological settings. This position is also responsible for stabilization and diversion away from psychiatric hospitalization and residential placement, referral to appropriate providers and community resources, and ongoing clinical oversight to meet mental health needs. Services are comprehensive, individualized, and are provided in clinic, home, educational, and other community settings and can include short-term case management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Master?s level degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field and a minimum of one year experience working with youth and families in the school, community or other related area, required. A minimum of one year post graduate experience providing clinical service to children and / or families in a mental health setting, preferred. Licensure preferred but not required.
2. Must be able to meet QMHP requirements under State of Oregon MHDD Division?s Administrative rules.
3. Experience working with the case management model required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A. Bilingual / bicultural capabilities preferred.
B. Demonstrated knowledge of developmental needs of children birth to 18 years old, along with the mental health needs of adults.
C. Good understanding of and ability to use DSM IV Diagnostic categories.
D. Knowledge of individual, family & group treatment strategies, including traditional & non-traditional treatment / service modalities.
E. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
F. Must value working in a multicultural / diverse environment.
G. Ability to establish professional communication in English with clients and service providers both orally and in writing.
H. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in a variety of environments.
I. Ability to maintain complete documentation for charting according to OAR and agency requirements.
J. Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and judgment in working with a variety of people.
K. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries in working with others and in handling confidential information.
L. Ability to remain calm & emotionally available in an environment serving severely traumatized & at-risk children & adolescents.
M. Ability to work as a member of a coordinated team effort.
N. Ability to work independently and seek out supervision as needed or required.
O. Ability to accurately read, record and interpret information, including assessments, measures and diagnostic criteria in order to establish client / service provider strengths and needs.
P. Ability to consistently attend and be punctual for scheduled work commitments and meetings and be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of position.
Q. Manual / physical dexterity allowing for performance of routine office functions such as filing, faxing, phone use, computer use, copying, etc.
Other Requirements:
1. Personal transportation allowing for frequent, regular travel within the Portland metropolitan area in a timely manner is required. A copy of a valid driver?s license for state of residency, proof of personal auto liability coverage must be provided, and a driving record meeting corporate driving requirements is required. Personal auto liability coverage at $100,000 / $300,000 level is required and must be maintained.
2. Requires flexibility regarding scheduling and work hours. May require some weekend or evening work or hours in excess of routine schedule in order to assure optimal program operations and service delivery.
3. Bloodborne Pathogens training is required on first day of employment.
4. Must pass criminal history check.
