Description: Wokingham Borough Council will be coming to America in December 2009 to interview social workers interested in moving abroad! The salaries for these positions will range from $43,841-54,389. A generous relocation package will also be offered to offset the cost of moving and more information on this will be provided soon.

Focus: Child Welfare
Purpose of the Job:
As part of a specialist team / service area, to assess referred clients and complete carers’ assessments, produce and implement care plans, using social work or occupational therapy skills (or, for some specialist posts, other recognised professional qualifications), monitor, review and evaluate care plans. In some settings, to design and manage a programme of care and / or training.
To deliver / provide, in response to assessed needs a direct specialist professional service, working with individuals, their carers and families. At all times, to promote and safeguard the welfare of children who live or access services in, or who are looked after by, Wokingham Borough Council.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Investigate referrals
To receive referrals and to ensure that appropriate and timely action is taken, in accordance with Wokingham’s child protection procedures.
To investigate under section 47 of the 1989 Children Act any child or circumstance in which a child is thought to be at risk of significant harm and decide, with regard to the level of risk, how to meet the identified needs within agreed procedures. Section 47 enquiries will often be complex and carried out in collaboration with a range of other care workers / clinicians. All enquiries will be completed in accordance with current procedures and presented for sign-off by the Team Manager Child protection.
